voluntary corporate action
Corporate action in which holders of a security need to take action if the corporate action is to affect their holdings. The issuing company usually informs all holders of the corporate action that is about to take place. Sometimes, this notice is provided in the original offering documentation for the security. If the holder takes no action, its holding is unaffected by the corporate action.
